[The evening finds Ryoji yawning, moreso than usual; he's been forcing himself to stay up all night to travel, while his Absol skirts the road ahead and fights, and sleep through the day - which is harder to break in than he realized. His new Murkrow - courtesy of an egg hatched a little over a week ago - is perched on his shoulder, although his Absol's nowhere to be seen.

Most likely because of the question Ryoji asks, after he's through with his second yawn.]

Does anyone else's Pokémon train themselves? [He pauses for a moment to rub the eye with a mole beneath it. Dang, it'd been a lot easier back home not to sleep. He hadn't even really been tired then.] I don't think it's a bad thing, especially since I'd prefer not to fight, but I was just wondering if Mina-kun was the only one who did it... He's even taken to training Takara-chan.

[The Murkrow squawks happily, rubbing her beak against Ryoji's hand when he goes to give her a rub with the hand not holding the Gear steady.]

I bet when my eggs hatch he'll be after those, too... Ah, anyway, Violet City isn't so bad! I think we'll be here a little longer, since both Mina-kun and Takara-chan want to check out the tower here. If anyone doesn't mind travelling at night and doesn't have anyone to travel with yet, we'd be happy for your company. Or, well, I would be.

Ah! [He grins, loosening his scarf a little. Why is it so hot he never even felt chilly really at home why now.] Especially if you're a girl. I'd be honored to have your company then.

Mine seem to train by themselves sometimes. ...I think it's normal?

[He never thought it might not be.]

I just see a lot of other people training with their Pokémon, so I was a little worried about mine... But I've talked to a lot of people and as it turns out, it isn't as abnormal as it might seem. I wouldn't have changed anything even if it had been, since Mina-kun's really good at doing it himself.

Oh that's good. I'm not really much of a trainer myself.

[Sob, he wants to write. Not train animals to fight.]

Mina's one of your pokemon?

[And Ryoji wants to make friends! Let's be friends, Harry-san--!]

Yeah. He's not here right now - I think he might be outside city limits, actually, but he'll probably come around in an hour or two to see if we're actually going to Sprout Tower - but he's my Absol. I started out with him. And this here is Takara-chan! She hatched from an egg my friend Rangiku-san gave me a few days after I arrived in Johto. She's a real treasure, just like her name implies.

[The Murkrow looks proud, somehow.]

[Harry smiles at that.]

My daughter has an Absol here too. And that's a nice name, did you pick it, or did your friend?

I started out with a Togepi when I got here. Her name is Lisa.

[More people with Absols is always nice! He's met-- maybe one other person with an Absol, and that one was the direct opposite in disposition of his own.]

I did. Rangiku-san said I should name it whatever I thought of when I saw it after it hatched, and it just had to be Takara-chan.

['Togepi' gets his attention, too, because it sounds c u t e!]

Ah, Lisa sounds like a cute name for a cute Pokémon! Is she named after anyone in particular?

[He'll move the device to show a togepi asleep on bag. Yes, she is adorable. He'll move it back after a moment.]

She's named after a friend of mine. She's here now actually.

[A surprise as she was dead, but hey so was he.]

That's pretty lucky! Did she mind that Lisa was named after her?

I don't think so. She seemed to like her.

Hm... I wonder if Minato-kun would mind that I named my Absol after him? Haha, now I kind of wish he was here too so I could ask.

Maybe you'll get a chance to find out in the future. People show up randomly quite a lot.

What do they look like? I'll keep an eye out for them in case they appear sometime.

Minato-kun's kind of on the short side for a guy, and he's pretty shy too... He's an unexpectedly smooth operator though. He has blueish hair that parts mostly to the right, and he's usually wearing headphones and listening to his music player. Oh! And he slouches. Ah, and then there's Junpei-kun -- he's another of my best friends! I guess his most distinctive traits are... his baseball cap and his beard! Oh, and he's pretty loud and he's a really good guy. He likes geishas! I don't know if I could talk about the other guys, since they'r really more of Junpei-kun and Minato-kun's friends, so I guess those are the only two for now...

[He nods, listening to all of that.]
