He tucks his chin into his scarf and sighs, staring at his hands. If she was truly around, he would've changed by now. He would've become completely unrecognizable. In the water's reflection, however, he sees only himself, eyebrows knitted together in confusion and worry. But -- he hadn't. He was still the same.

[Not much later, Ryoji's peering into the Gear and grinning at the camera; his hair's plastered to his face and he's soaking yet. Someone ~~was shoved by their starter~~ slipped into the ocean while they were thinking -- but for now, he's sitting by the edge and letting his feet stay in the water, not that the camera can catch that. It can, however, catch the top of an egg (Eevee, for those familiar with them).]

This world's really beautiful, isn't it? I'm glad to have the chance to explore it. I've heard there are busier towns further along, and while the scenery here is wonderful, I'm a little homesick for the city... I don't think Mina-kun's going to like the busier towns too much though.

[But oh! Introductions! He waves over an Absol - who leans juuust into camera view, a small frown perched on its face - and flashes the camera a charming smile.]

I'm Ryoji Mochizuki, and this is my Absol, Mina-kun. [The Absol gives Ryoji a hard look, then saunters off camera. Ryoji's smile falters for only a second before it's back up, brighter than before.] He's a little tough, but hopefully he'll warm up to me soon. I named him after a friend from home, since their hair's kind of the same.

[Heheh. Not to mention their personalities --]

I see. If he'd stay in his ball, then he wouldn't have to worry about crowds, but... He's pretty adverse to it. In fact, every time I try to return him he just knocks the ball away and stalks off to fight some wild Pokémon.

[It's really worrying. Especially since Ryoji isn't a violent type.]

That does sound like a problem. Maybe you should travel during the night, it's far less crowded then.

That's a good idea. I guess I'll have to take a nap in a bit so I'm not tired all night... [He chuckles, thinking.] I hope my Eevee won't mind travelling in the dark once it hatches.

Hopefully. Actually, Eevees evolve into Umbreons when they level up during the night and are happy enough. They're good additions to the team.

[ Extra tip!! Souji has a lot of Pokemon knowledge, thanks to starting and owning the Breeding Centre. ]

Hm... How do you know when they're happy enough?

It's different for each Pokemon, so it really depends on personality of your Eevee and how they express happiness. They also have to be happy to have you as their trainer, so that one should be a little more obvious to figure out.

[ Whenever it's pinning you to the ground and covering you in slobber, or giving you a bone crushing hug all the time... ]

Ah, that makes sense. [Man he swears he's heard your voice somewhere before--] You know a lot about Pokémon. I'm amazed.

I run a centre and a foster home in Goldenrod City, selling Pokemon eggs and taking in abandoned Pokemon, so it's kinda required to know a lot.

Actually, if you want, I can give you a free egg as a welcome gift to Johto.

That's where I got this guy from, actually! I heard it mentioned in passing while I was talking to one of the other arrivals who had been here before, so I decided to see for myself.

[ Ah, that makes sense! Souji was wondering where Ryoji might have gotten that Eevee egg. He didn't think there were any egg sales recently, at least not for Eevees. ]

[ He gives a small chuckle. ]

Well, then I can't give you another free one, only a large discount.

[A discount, huh... He had seen some other Pokémon he wanted, but adding it up went a little over what he had on hand... He looks like a little kid at a candy store at the thought of more Pokémon to add to his family.]

How much? I was looking at getting a Happiny too, since they're pretty cute, but that'd really set me back money-wise.

[He's never had to worry about money before - claiming to be rich and somehow having the cash to back it up every time does that - but staying in hotels and inns end up costing a lot --]

[ A Happiny egg? Let's see, that's about P3000, and new trainers start off with... the same amount, if he remembers correctly. Factoring the prices of the inn and supplies, a Happiny egg is way out of a new trainer's price range. Hm... ]

I can cut the price down to P2000 and can take regular payments of however much you want. [ Pay him P100 a month, he really doesn't mind. ] Or if you can lend a hand for a day at the Breeding Centre, or can advertise us around, I can let you take it for free.

[Working at the Breeding Center... His eyes light up at the thought. There'd probably be a lot of Pokémon, and he's sure his Eevee wouldn't mind seeing the place it originally came from when it hatches...
